Programs

We offer a variety of programs here at BTSR!

Aquatics, Handicrafts, NATECO, Shooting Sports, Corrals, ScoutSkills, SCUBA, Trail to Eagle

Aquatics- everything pool related! From Swimming to Lifesaving! Even Adult trainings for water areas

Handicrafts- all the crafts merit badges. Basketry, Leatherwork, Pottery, Wood Carving!

NATECO- nature and ecology. Nature, Weather, Geology and more!

Shooting Sports- If it goes BANG! or TWANG! its here! Rifle Shooting, Shotgun Shooting, and Archery! 

Corrals- If your scouts like animals they will be at home here! Corrals is home to our horse herd and the location for Horsmanship. Your scouts will also get requirements completed for Animal Science and Vet Med.

Scout Skills- Outdoor Skills that every Scout should know. Camping, First Aid, E-Prep, Wilderness Survival!

SCUBA- Learning to dive at Balmorhea State Park

Trail to Eagle- Our First Year Camper program. This program is designed to help your newly troop level scout cross-off requirements for rank advencements

Outback Program-Backpacking treks consist of a weeklong guided hiking adventure. Crews hike on rugged trails with amazing views or over 9000 acres. 

Cavalry-Yet another great High-Adventure program for your older Scouts! Take a step back in time and live like the Cavalry soldiers of the 9th and 10^th Cavalry at Fort Davis did in the mid 1800’s!

Mountain Man-This is a weeklong experience for older Scouts who would like to experience the life of a Mountain Man in the fur trade era of the 1840’s. 

We have added a new 2026 BTSR Leader's Guide Update. It has been updated with the newest information. The State of Texas Legislature passed new legislation concerning Youth Camps in September of 2025. As part that new legislation, a link to the Department of State Health Services Youth Camps website for campers, parents, and camp staff and volunteers to use to report the camps’s noncompliance with this chapter must be on our website. The link is also below.
